What We Do

run3D measures your running biomechanics using advanced 3D technology.Runner on treadmill with markers

12 state-of-the-art infrared cameras are used to precisely measure the 3D positions of reflective markers attached to your legs as you run.

The marker positions are used to create an exact computer model of you running, and the personalised model is used to accurately calculate your 3D joint angles at your hips, knees and ankles.

Our custom built software compares your running biomechanics to an extensive database of uninjured runners, which enables us to identify any unusual patterns in your running style.

We then provide you with a comprehensive report of your running biomechanics, which clearly shows whether any of your 3D motion patterns lie outside the normal range. If you are already injured, then this information can be used to help identify the root-cause of the injury, recommend the best treatment options and prevent the injury from recurring when you start to run again. If you are not injured, then the information can be an extremely useful tool with regards to injury prevention. When you know that you have certain biomechanical patterns that put you at risk of developing a running injury, then you can work towards improving and correcting these aspects of your running style.

run3D is a private service that is not funded by the NHS. Anyone can book an appointment - there is no need for you to be referred by your GP or other health professional.
