Local Involvement Network for Oxfordshire
Have you heard about the new Local Involvement Networks (LINks)?
LINks are independent networks of organisations and individuals representing the views of local people. They allow everyone to have a say in how health and social care services are planned, developed, implemented and delivered.
You can get involved in a way that suits you or your organisation. You do not have to join a committee or give lots of time in order to be involved in LINks.
‘Help and Care’ www.helpandcare.org.uk has been appointed to be the Host Organisation for the LINk in Oxfordshire as well as for several other Local Authority LINks regions in the South of England. Our role is to support the LINks to be effective voices for people in these areas. We are keen to ensure that LINks have a broad base and are as diverse and inclusive as possible. We are particularly interested in hearing from people and groups who are usually under-represented and want to find ways in which they can be involved.
Help and Care is able to receive registrations directly from anyone who would like to be a part of LINks as it becomes established in Oxfordshire.
The quickest way to become involved is via http://www.makesachange.org.uk/register.aspx
Alternatively by freepost using this leaflet or by phone on 0300 111 0102
LINks will not work without you!
The first Annual Report from the Oxfordshire Local Involvement Network, the period 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009, is now available here
Oxfordshire LINk want to hear from you
Oxfordshire LINk is made up of individuals and community groups who care about our health and social care services and work together to improve those services. One of the aims of Oxfordshire LINk is to make sure your opinion is listened to about how local services are planned, developed and delivered. The group is independent of the NHS and the local authority. What Oxfordshire LINk can do for you
- investigate specific issues of concern to the community
- use powers to hold services to account and get results
- ask for information and get answers in a specified amount of time
- carry out spot checks to see services are working well
- refer any outstanding issues to the local Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Oxfordshire County Council if it seems that action is not being taken
Who can join?
Anyone can join - carers, service users, community leaders, patient representatives - everyone's views matter. Groups can also join to ensure the needs of their community are listened to.
