Histopathology
The Histopathology Department provides a diagnostic histopathology service to the surgical, clinical, rheumatological and radiological staff of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital and GP’s. It also provides a specialist referral service for osteoarticular disease for the South Central Region and has close links with the other specialist units throughout the country.
The Trust runs the Oxford Bone and Soft Tissue Tumour Service of which the histopathology department is an integral part. The department participates in quality assurance schemes and its staff are actively involved in further education and CPD schemes. The unit is lead by Nick Athanasou Professor of Musculoskeletal Pathology, University of Oxford and Honorary Consultant with a dedicated team of biomedical scientists and clerical staff.
