Hip and Knee Clinic
When your GP refers you to see an orthopaedic surgeon you can choose to be seen and treated at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
This can either be booked directly at the doctor's surgery or you may be asked to ring our appointments line on 01865 737333. You will then receive a letter inviting you to attend one of our clinics.
In some instances, tests may be organised in advance of your visit. This will enable the doctor treating you to give you a more detailed explanation of the problems you are experiencing with your knee and will help him or her plan the appropriate treatment.
In some cases, your doctor may organise further investigations after your consultation. These may include:
- Blood tests
- X-rays
- MRI scans
- Bone scans
Test results will be reported to the consultant caring for you. They will then write to you explaining what action they would like to take. This might include:
- Seeing you again in clinic to discuss things further
- Treating you with a course of physiotherapy
- Listing you for an operation
We always aim to run clinics as efficiently as possible and keep waiting times to an absolute minimum. However occassionally there may be delays and we would ask you to remain patient – we will always try and see you as soon as we can.
