About Us
We perform over 700 knee and hip replacements annually. We also perform 300 revision procedures every year.
As a tertiary referral centre, people are referred to us with complex musculoskeletal conditions both countrywide and internationally.
We have strong links with the other services at the hospital, such as the Bone Infection Unit. As a result we have accumulated considerable experience in the treatment of infected joint replacements.
Similarly, in collaboration with the Rheumatology service, we treat patients with other inflammatory arthropathies such as:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis
- Ankylosing spondolytis
We also treat the orthopaedic manifestations of disease like sickle cell and haemophillia when they affect the hip and knee.
