Welcome to the Bone Infection Unit

The Bone Infection Unit, led by Dr Ivor Byren, Consultant Physician, at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, is the country's only specialist unit dedicated to the investigation and treatment of patients with all aspects of bone or joint infectiion.

Patients treated in our 26-bedded ward include those with chronic foot ulceration, infection joint replacements, spine infections and post-traumatic long bone infections. Treatment typically involves surgery, intensive antibiotic therapy and rehabilitation planning, and discharge to home or other settings for further rehabilitation.
