Single Equality Scheme (SES)
All public sector bodies are required to produce race, disability and gender schemes.
A Single Equality Scheme is a single document that outlines how the organisation meets the statutory duties of all three. It also covers other diversity strands of religion and belief, age, sexual orientation, carers and human rights.
The Trust’s SES provides a coherent framework that addresses all diversity strands and promotes partnership working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure its actions are compatible with the Human Rights Acts when devising policies or procedures or delivering services directly to the public.
Our SES is based on nine core areas which form an action planning framework where we outline standards and evidence actions to monitor progress and continual improvement. These areas are: -
- Implementation – delivering what we say in the action plan
- Prioritising our actions
- Identifying, prioritising and completing Policy Equality Impact Assessments and Directorate/Service Reviews
- Monitoring progress where adverse impact has been identified
- Communicating the impact of Equality Impact Assessments
- Improving access to Trust buildings, information and services
- Improving employment opportunities for all equality groups
- Improving learning and development and career progression opportunities for all staff
- Monitoring and reviewing our performance
