NOC Appeal
Introduction to the NOC Appeal
Introduction by The Rt. Hon. Lord Tebbit CH - President of the Appeal
We, able-bodied folk, so easily take our freedom of movement for granted. It is often only when tragedy touches us that we begin to understand the problems faced by those whose movement is restricted.

Over the past few years I have become involved with the work done here at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. To maintain and improve the outstanding level of care at the hospital new accommodation is essential.
The hospital is undergoing major redevelopment and the NOC Appeal has raised funds for a new children’s ward, two adult wards, a hydrotherapy pool and a research centre. Please if you can help us we aim to do so much more.
About The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Appeal
The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Appeal is an independent charitable trust that has over the last 15 years raised £14million to provide new buildings and facilities for the hospital. This money has been raised with the help and support of thousands of patients and their families, individuals, charitable trusts and companies.
Achievements
The success of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Appeal has contributed to a major redevelopment programme, which started in 1995.
The Appeal has provided -
- In 1995 the Tebbit Centre - £1.5m
- In 2002 the Botnar Research Centre - £4.5m
- In 2004 a new Hydrotherapy Pool - £750,000
- In 2006 £300,000 towards a second MRI Scanner Building
- £6m for a new children’s ward and 2 adult wards completed in 2007
The NOC Appeal has raised £50,000 to provide facilities at the hospital for a new Sports Medicine Service.
The new Sports Injury Service will treat a larger number of patients than the number currently seen at the NOC. The hospital expects this service would become the premier sports medicine service in
Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. We are pleased to be supporting this service to help patients’.
