NOC Appeal Aims

The Appeal seeks to raise funds for extra clinical facilities and for medical research, which cannot be provided by the NHS.  We urgently need to continue to support the increasing needs of our patients and staff.

The New Children’s Wardcourtyard

The new children’s ward funded by the Appeal continues to need our support.  We have recently completed 2 new courtyard play gardens.

Phase 2 of The Botnar Research Centre

The Nuffield Department of Surgery has its research arm in the Botnar Research Centre.labsIt is attached to the University of Oxford where over 100 scientists are now working in the recently completed Institute of Musculoskeletal Sciences. We have a unique advantage in having such a research centre within a hospital so that researchers and clinicians can treat patients on the same site and is the most advanced in Europe.  This £4.5 million building paid for by the Appeal has brought the research groups under one roof for greater efficiency and exchange of ideas.  The Trustees have now launched an Appeal to raise a further £7 million to build a Phase 2 building attached to the Institute.  This Phase will be devoted to clinical research and trials of new treatments for arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and orthopaedics, epidemiology, bioengineering and postgraduate teaching. Our research competes with the very best in the world.
