Patient Environment

Through the Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) initiative the Trust is required to comply with national guidelines on

  • Hospital environment
  • Patient privacy and dignity
  • Hospital food

The annual PEAT assessment took place in February 2011 and the results were submitted to the National Patient Safety Agency. The team undertaking the assessment included the Trust's Chief Executive, Site Services Manager, a patient representative, our Modern Matron and Infection Control Nurse.

The results are fed into the Trust Performance Rating System and are used as a key performance indicator. In addition, the Trust carries out its own monthly inspections to maintain standards and embed a culture of continual improvement.

In 2011 the hospital achieved maximum PEAT scores in all areas and an overall rating of excellent.
