The Annual Michael Benson Lecture

The Annual Michael Benson Lecture was established in 2007 to communicate the work of the Trust to patients, public and staff, and forms part of the Trust's Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Mr Benson MA, MMS, FRCS is a former consultant Children's Orthopaedic Surgeon who retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the Trust. His contribution is marked with this lecture at the AGM followed by a presentation of a plaque engraved each year with the name of the Guest Speaker.

Proposed process for selection of Guest Speaker

  • Call for nominations with deadline end of June
  • Nomination Panel meet early July to discuss nominations and select speaker
  • Selected speaker notified by mid-July to allow sufficient time for speaker to consider topic and for this to be included in AGM invitations

Quorum

The meeting will be considered quorate if three members of the panel are able to attend. In the event of two applications being equal, the Chair will have the casting vote.
